SOMOS VENCEDORES is pleased to introduce, Matthew Rodrigues.
Matthew was born in Taunton, MA in 1993. His parents Rui and Maria Rodrigues, emigrated from São Miguel, Azores. Matthew graduated from Bay State College with Honors, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with a concentration in Finance. He is currently a Branch Manager at North Easton Savings Bank, and working his way up the corporate ladder. Matthew continues to serve the Portuguese community by assisting hundreds of Portuguese-American customers with their financial portfolios, opening accounts, and etc. Matthew volunteers his time serving at the Portuguese festivals, traveling to schools and cultural events to educate the Portuguese-American youth, and helping his local parish. Matthew has been a member of The Holy Ghost Society since 2012 and is the youngest member of the group. In addition, Matthew collaborates with Portuguese Council in New Bedford and Portugal, and is a part of The Azorean Artisans Cultural and Solidarity Mosaic Association of Lagoa, Azores, USA and Canada. Matthew takes pride in spreading the Portuguese and American Christmas traditions, by creating a Christmas village (presepio), that imitates Christmas in America and an Azorean Christmas. Matthew is the proud owner of Matthew’s Creations (http://matthewcreate.webs.com/) (https://www.facebook.com/MatthewsCreations/). Matthew’s Creations has flourished over the years and has expanded from the United States to Canada and Portugal. All of his creations are personally designed and handcrafted. Matthew stated, “I am proud to be a Portuguese-American because it has given me amazing networking opportunities and precious family values. I applied for my dual citizenship which allowed me to become that much more connected to my Portuguese roots. Being able to speak two languages fluently has allowed me to connect to the community I live and work in. The Portuguese community has always welcomed and supported me. Viva Portugal!”
